The Chapter of Education
:An Essay on the Education Taught in the Second Chapter of To Kill a Mockingbird
#1: In life, we often ask ourselves how did we get here? Is it because of our education or something else? #2: Right now education is the most important decision we can make in our life. #3: It makes us feel more special because we know that we will have a future. #4: Harper Lee sure knows how to make education work in her writing, and now it is making the book more interesting.
TS: In the second chapter of To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee shows us the point of the book through another theme, education. SD: The main part that showed education was when Ms. Caroline came into the picture. CM: Ms. Caroline wants to change the whole system up without hurting herself or others. CM: For example, she didn’t realize that there were unfortunate kids in the class and she made a fool out of herself. SD: “An educational system isn’t worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but doesn’t teach them to make a life,” (Unknown). CM: This quote somewhat relates to the book because the words "teach to learn" comes up a lot in the book and not "teach to learn life". CM: However, does this quote mean anything to Maycomb? SD: Lastly, education not only taught Scout about life, but it also taught her to be true to life. CM: When she told Ms. Caroline about Walter, she told the truth even though it would cost her later. CM: The truthfullness that Scout told and showed in the book should be educated to the other students. CS: If education is kept as a theme through the whole book, think of what people could learn.TS: Education not only plays a character in the second chapter of To Kill a Mockingbird, but it also plays a big part in my life. SD: From my first day of school to now, education has been the foundation of my life. CM: I was taught to do math, speak, walk and even talk in which I can express myself, making myself live more freely. CM: Sometimes Ican just make a mistake or fall off balance, but I always try to get back up because I have that spark of education that is pushing me to do the right thing. SD: As Heinrich Heine said, “Experience is a good school, but the fees are high.” CM: Education can get harder or easier but as we get older experience becomes education. CM: We can make mistakes but we learn from experience or simply just from our life. SD: Finally, education not only teaches us basics but also it teaches us how to make decisions. CM: At first, college, high school or even middle school can seem so far away, but what happens if you quit. What goals do you have? CM: If you quit before college, what will happen or what if you go to college? What will happen? CS: In spite of all the little ups and downs that education can bring us, education will decide our future.
#1: Education is a very healthy thing in life. #2: We learn that education should be a second nature. #3: Even if we might hate some part of education, we should not hate what we learn because it is one of the most precious lesson life can offer. #4: The book is just like the beginnings of our lives, we just have to wait to see what we learn next.
1. Under the second SD in the first paragraph and the first commentary, I think you should use quotation marks (" ") instead of apostrophes (' ').
ReplyDelete2. Under the first SD in the second paragraph and the second commentary, "fall of balance" should be "fall off balance."
3. I enjoyed reading the CS of the second body paragraph. It's a good moral.
1. In the first setence in the first paragraph, ' how did I get here should' be in quotes " " or should be italicized.
ReplyDelete2. In the first body paragraph, CM2 under SD1, "they" should be "there"
3. I like the last CM in the first body paragraph. It sounds cool.
